Helios Solar was founded in 2009 by Connor and Sam Field with one goal in mind – to bring affordable renewable energy to Kalamazoo and the rest of West Michigan. Now, with 100’s of installations done by our owner operated crew, we have established our company as a premier solar installer in Michigan.
Meet Our Team
Brandon Flood
Sales
Brandon joined Helios full time in 2018 as the Business Development Manager and Residential Sales Specialist. With a background in sales, marketing, and business development, Brandon focuses on the full lifecycle of all of Helios’ residential projects, managing the website, and all marketing and advertising related matters. Brandon has the honor of being one of four NABCEP* Certified PV Technical Sales Professionals in Michigan, Brandon brings a detailed understanding of the technical requirements for going solar, as well as the economic, environmental, and social benefits. If you’re interested in installing solar at your home, Brandon is your guy!
*NAPCEP is the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners and the “Gold Standard” for certification in the solar industry.
Connor Field
CEO
Connor has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Solid State Electronics and Photovoltaics from the University of Michigan. He also has undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan in Electrical Engineering and Economics. With more than 13 years of experience working in the solar industry, Connor has extensive knowledge of the design and engineering principles related to solar photovoltaic installations of all types. He has been the chief engineer for over 2MW of solar installations with individual project sizes ranging from 1kW to >500kW. As a NABCEP certified PV Installer, Connor provides a core of engineering leadership that drives Helios’ innovative design and engineering process.
Sam Field
CFO
Sam is an attorney who has specialized in Civil Litigation for more than 30 years. He also co-founded Keystone Community Bank in Kalamazoo in 1997 and has involvement in many other businesses including other renewable energy ventures. Sam adds specialized knowledge to the Helios Solar development team in the areas of zoning, permitting, financing, enterprise organization, real and personal property classification and valuation, and contacts for construction, parallel operation and power purchase agreements.
